Asia VoIP Market to Grow by 1B Per Year

The market for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services in Asia, including Japan, will grow by one bln USD per year between 2005 and 2009, topping 10 bln usd in 2009, said financial services firm Mergent Online.

Smartphone usage in Asia is expected to take off in the third generation (3G) mobile communications era and Chinese mobile phone vendors are preparing for this new demand, Mergent said.
