BT to Set Up Wireless Broadband in Cities

Posted by Voiponder Reporter on May 17, 2006

BT Group plans to set up wide-area Wi-Fi networks in 12 cities by the end of the year, giving people access to the high-speed Internet and telecoms services when they are out and about.

The former telecoms monopoly said on Wednesday it would install a mesh of Wi-Fi hotspots covering large areas in Leeds, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London’s Westminster area, in another push to boost revenues and set the stage for its next generation of mobile devices.
